Just returned from a fabulous stay at Margaree Lodge. Our accommadations were very nice and very clean. The lodge offered many choices for dinners, one of which was to prepare the salmon we caught into a gourmet meal. The fly fishing day was guided by Albert Jenkins and having a guide proved very helpful. Not just for finding the fish, but for learning the "pool" rules. The stay was breathtaking!

We stayed for 7 days in the Margaree Lodge resort. Although we are not interested in fishing, I think it must be a paradise for fishing lovers (huge salmons we saw from a underwater camera). The scenic views are breathtaking and you can very much enjoy the quiet environment. The cabot trail is beautiful, one of the must beautiful scenic views I have ever seen. Whale watching, ocean fishing etc etc, also the children loved the magnificant environment. The Margaree Lodge Resort was clean, has a good restaurant and a very nice bar (with great music). Being from Holland and living in Montreal I can guarantee you a very nice holiday in Cape Bretton. Vriendelijke groeten (Kind regards) Family Thewissen.

We are so happy that we chose to have our wedding at the Margaree Lodge. The scenery of the meandering river, the trees in full autumn bloom and the mountains on all sides was breathtaking. The lodge was a warm and comfortable setting for a wedding reception and there were plenty of rooms available for our out of town guests. Gudrun,Werner and the rest of their staff were very accommodating throughout everything. The meal we had was delicious and we were pleased with how efficient and orderly it was served. The Cape Breton Chapter Harley Owners Group has been going to the Margaree Lodge for years. Great riding in the area being on the Cabot Trail. This is now the second time we stayed at the Margaree Lodge. We went there for fishing and found the fishing great. Having said that, one has to realize that fishing is predominantly for Atlantic Salmon which means that one could be without a fish for a week. This actually happened to us last year. But nevertheless we were determined to come back. Why? Because Gudrun and Werner are outstanding hosts, the landscape is breathtaking and the food is fabulous. Margaree Lodge is the perfect place for vacation. This year we returned and had great luck with the Salmon as well. Perfect. Dear Gudrun, dear Werner: Thank you so much for a fantastic week. As a passionate fisherman of Atlantic salmon, I have been going to the Margaree and the Margaree Lodge since moving to Nova Scotia in 1999. Gudrun and Werner are exceptional hosts, and are backed by a friendly, capable staff who do everything to make one's stay enjoyable. The dining room offers excellent meals. More importantly for me, the Lodge is a superb "home" for my fishing on the Margaree. The river offers some of the best opportunities in Canada to fish for Atlantic salmon. The river still has good runs of fresh fish, and is easily accessible to anyone. All that I, and many others, hope is that visitors will respect the fish - no sinking lines, no big hooks - and respect the local customs - rotate through pools and acknowledge the rights of others on the river.
