FISHING LICENSE INFORMATION
FOR NOVA SCOTIA

When fishing or hunting in the province of Nova Scotia you must follow basic fishing and hunting etiquette as well as the rules and regulations as set down by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Department of Lands and Forests. These rules and regulations are for your enjoyment and safety so please follow them. SALMON:

The salmon fishing season begins June 1 and ends 0ctober 31. Resident fees are set at $28.75 which includes HST, and for those anglers under 16 the license is $5.75. Non-resident angler's must pay $120.75 which includes HST for a seasons license or $46.00 for a 7 day inclusive license. Non-resident's can only receive 1 seven day license per salmon season, and it is more cost efficient if your stay is only short in Nova Scotia.

TROUT:

The trout fishing season begins early,from April 15 to Sept.30. However, for the month of September speckled trout fishing is catch and release only, but you can fish and keep rainbow and brown trout until the end of the season. A resident's license will cost $17.25 which includes HST and a non-resident's license will cost $46.00 which includes HST. However,a non-resident can receive a 7 day trout fishing license for $23.00. This 7 day license can be received only once per trout fishing season.

DEEP SEA FISHING:

When chartering a boat for deep-sea fishing make sure your arrangements are made in advance in order to avoid disappointment. Many visitors land unannounced at a wharf only to find out the boat is not available or has been booked in advance. Prices for deep-sea charter vary from wharf to wharf and seasonally so please check in advance. The Captain of your charter is responsible for all license requirements for you when under charter to you and your party. Shark, Cod, Mackeral, and Tuna are fished from our waters. Some of the charter crew will even clean and bag your catch, so check about this service when chartering a boat from our many wharves.


HUNTING LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
FOR NOVA SCOTIA

The Department of Natural Resources control the licensing for hunting within the province of Nova Scotia. Resident's and non-resident's alike are reminded that you must present your small arms certificate from your province or state before receiving a license to hunt in Nova Scotia. Also, for non-resident's you must have the name of a guide in order to qualify for a license. The Department of Lands and Forests have a list of certified guides for your perusal if you require them.

BEAR:

The bear hunting season starts on Sept.8 and ends on October 25 inclusive. When you register with the Department of Lands and Forests you will be required to register a bait site. This site registered to you will be checked by conservation officers from the Department of Natural Resources in order to insure that the license requirements are being met and for your safety. You can't go through the woods at random shooting bear. The license fee for residents is $23.00 which includes HST and for non-resident's it is $103.50 which includes HST.

DEER:

This season commences on Oct.31 and ends Dec.6 inclusive. The deer population is growing in the province and resident fees are $24.15 which includes HST, and for non-resident's the license fee is $115.00 which includes HST. No hunting is permitted on Sunday.

MOOSE:

In order to qualify for a moose license your name must be in the draw which takes place in August. The applications are available from any Department of Natural Resources office after or on April 1. The application fee to have your name put in the draw is $5.00.

SMALL GAME:

This season runs from Oct.1 to Dec.31. The fee for a resident small game license is $14.95 which includes HST, and non-resident fees for a license are $51.75 which includes HST. Even though you are hunting small game such as patridge non-residents must have a guide with them.
