Ideally located overlooking the Forks salmon pool and the many pools in the Margaree River system, the Margaree Lodge is a scenic 1:45 hour or 135KM meander to the Sydney Airport and approx. 4 hours to the Halifax International Airport, retracing your route though the Ceilidh Trail to Port Hastings, which connects with the "Road to the Isles", The Canso Causeway and the Trans-Canada through Auld's Cove, Antigonish, New Glasgow, Truro and finally to the Halifax International Airport.
Daily international flights leave Halifax Airport, some joining overseas flights from Toronto International Airport. The Margaree Lodge is located on the western shores of Cape Breton Island, in the Canadian maritime province of Nova Scotia. It is a convenient day drive from the New England states, i.e. Rhode Island, Maine, Massachutes, New Hampshire, Conneticut, etc.
European travellers find it easier to disembark at Halifax International Airport and take a connector flight of Air Nova to Sydney which puts the traveller on Cape Breton and a short 1:45 hour drive on the Trans-Canada (105), past Iona and Baddeck to connect with the Cabot Trail at the Red Barn, just a few miles outside Baddeck. Once on the Cabot Trail, you travel over Hunter's Mountain, through Middle River, North East Margaree and finally to the intersection of Route 19, The Ceilidh Trail, and the Cabot Trail. Overlooking this intersection is your destination in Margaree, The Margaree Lodge. The atmosphere is cozy, the coffee hot and the stories abound. So, drop in for a visit now that you know where we are located. The welcome mat is always out!
